A 2D retro-style endless running platformer currently in Beta! We plan to restart work on this game starting 2025 after our larger project, When the Sun Sets, is fully published! We made Nocturnal Rush using iterative testing methods for Indie Game Academy's weekend game jam. Villager enemy AI combat soon to be added! Made for a Indie Game Academy's weekend game jam.

A short, goofy introductory cutscene I wrote for the game giving the player context on the situation. The town's mayor has been outed as a vampire after decades of rule, accidentally having drunk garlic-tomato soup! He has to fight his way out of his castle through a mob of angry villagers, in the daytime. Luckily, he has enough energy to turn into a bat and power-up on villager blood!

I designed the mechanics and movement in this game as our lead designer was busy during the jam weekend. We initially wanted a day-night cycle but due to time constraints and feature-creep, made sunlight an obstacle for the vampire throughout the platformer which added to the narrative of the game.

Narrative Design

Based on what the Count sees as he runs through his palace, he remembers certain items and their meaning, visualized through dialogue bits. At the end of the game, the player receives an outcome for the Count and game lore based on their performance. I designed the system and wrote the dialogue.
